Why the questions?
You may be wondering exactly why my posts contain so many questions. I guess the honest answer is that I want you to think and participate with me.
Currently in American culture we are handed a lot of information and told what to believe. It happens so much that we don’t even realize it is happening.
A few years ago I went through a process where my thinking and awareness of life dramatically changed. One day I had a thought and question go through my head. Was it from God? Probably because I don’t think I would willingly ask myself something so costly.
If God redeemed me and called me his own then I was “owned” by Him and all that I am is His, including my time, abilities, possessions (including money), body, spirit, and mind. What does it look like to live like that and was I willing to live that way? Was I willing to really surrender my life, becoming His and no longer owning things myself?
Since that time I have continued to walk through times of growth, challenge, change, and new awareness all going back to that one day. Since then I have learned to ask questions and become very aware of life around me. I watch and listen a lot more. I have grown in my self awareness, and especially in my awareness of others and how all that I do affects someone else. I have learned to recognize more about God and how to see him.
I have worked a lot with teenagers and young adults. One common misconception I hear regularly is that they don’t have a testimony to share. I believe we all have testimonies every day in our life. Our testimonies come from our interactions with God and others. We do not however share what we are learning, seeing, thinking, and feeling openly and readily. This blog is my testimony of what God is doing in my life, how he is teaching me, and where I see him working. It is my challenge to myself to look for God every day, to pray constantly, and to encourage others.
